Man Hospitalized After Accidentally Shooting Himself in the Leg

One male patient was taken to a Boston hospital Monday evening with severe injuries after he accidentally shot himself in the leg with a gun.

One male patient was transported to the hospital Monday evening after he accidentally shot himself in the leg with a gun.

Initial reports shortly after 5:30 p.m. said there was "severe bleeding" and multiple emergency crews would be dispatched.

Acting Fire Lt. David Morin said Engine 2 responded to the scene at Shady Oaks Trailer Park, which is located at 103 Newbury St., along with Danvers police, Lyons Ambulance and Atlantic Ambulance.

Morin said the man, whom he described as middle-aged, told first responders he was alone inside his trailer cleaning his gun when the accident occurred.

Morin said crews treated the man's injuries as best they could and he was then transported by ambulance to Mass. General Hospital in Boston.

He said it was difficult to determine the severity of the man's injuries.
