More Details Emerge About Chism's Attack on DYS Counselor
Philip Chism is now at Worcester State Hospital. The DA's office said it is concerned about the "level of supervision" at that facility.
The Essex County District Attorney’s Office is speaking out about their concern regarding the safety of staff, patients and public in light of murder suspect Philip Chism’s recent attack of a Department of Youth Services worker in Boston.
The Boston Globe reported that the DA’s office asked for “strict security precautions” after Chism’s attack, which mirrored the murder of Danvers High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer, an Andover resident.
Chism reportedly followed a female counselor into a locker room/bathroom area and attacked her with a pencil. The teenager reportedly choked and beat the staff member before other staff could restrain Chism.
