Police Nab Danvers Man for Armed Robbery

A 36-year-old Danvers man was arrested within an hour of allegedly robbing a convenience store Sunday afternoon.

Danvers police arrested a local man Sunday afternoon shortly after he allegedly robbed the Country Farms convenience store on Maple Street.

Daniel Lavalla, 36, of 6 Jacobs Landing, Danvers, was taken into custody by officer Adam French around 4:30 p.m. and charged with armed robbery and intimidation of a witness, according to police.

The robbery was first reported around 3:30 p.m. after Lavalla made off with an unknown amount of cash from the store at 79 Maple St.

Police told the Salem News no weapon was actually shown during the incident, despite the charge of armed robbery. Lavalla reportedly just gave a demand note to an employee and then fled from the scene in a pickup truck.

No injuries were reported from the incident and Lavalla is due to be arraigned in Salem District Court on Tuesday.
