The incident occurred Tuesday evening on State Road in Danvers, according to the victim.

Danvers police say they are looking for a male who impersonated a police officer and allegedly groped a female motorist after making her exit her vehicle.

A press statement from Chief Neil Ouellette Wednesday afternoon said the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The woman told police that a male in a black Dodge Charger with blue grill lights stopped her vehicle on State Road in Danvers, near the intersection of Route 128 and Elliott Street.

She said the man was wearing a dark-colored uniform with a badge and identified himself as a police officer. She said he demanded she exit her vehicle and then groped her before fleeing the scene on State Road toward Route 62.

Police say that anyone with information on the man's identity of whereabouts, or if they witnessed the incident, should call Danvers police detectives at 978-774-1388. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at the department's website.
