Poplar Street Closed Tuesday Night for Crash Reconstruction

A state police accident reconstruction team was called to the scene Tuesday evening shortly after the accident occurred.

Danvers Police Lt. William Carleton said he expects traffic detours to remain in place on Poplar Street until at least 7 p.m., following a pedestrian accident Tuesday night.

Carleton confirmed that a 15-year-old male was struck by a vehicle shortly before 5 p.m. on Poplar Street near the rail trail crossing.

He could not confirm at this time whether or not the teen was in fact crossing the street along the trail when he was hit.

The teen was taken to Beverly Hospital with a head injury. A MedFlight did arrive to the hospital shortly afterward, but it wasn't confirmed if it was for the same patient.

Carleton said state police are assisting with the accident reconstruction and investigation. The scene of the accident was still actively under investigation shortly after 6 p.m.

Poplar Street was shut down to traffic between Locust and Franklin streets. The stretch of road was finally reopened shortly before 8 p.m., according to a resident.
