Reports of Man With Hatchet in Road Rage Incident, Suspicious Man in Underwear

The following information was provided by the Danvers Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following excerpts are from reports in the Danvers Police Department press log from July 18-21.

Thursday, July 18

  • 8:06 a.m. Report of a larceny from a motor vehicle at Motel 6. Police said a GPS device and tools were stolen.
  • 3:55 p.m. A caller reported a male punched another male on Dyer Court.
  • 7:02 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries at the McDonald's on Endicott Street.
  • 8:47 p.m. Report of an intoxicated person on Sylvan Street near the library. A caller said a male was stumbling in the street.
  • 8:47 p.m. Report of a larceny at a Poplar Street home. Police said a CD player was stolen.
  • 9:26 p.m. Report of a fight at Cab Health & Recovery.
  • 10:57 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries on I-95 North. State police handled the accident.
  • 11:04 p.m. Report of an intoxicated person at the McDonald's on High Street.

Friday, July 19

  • 12:14 a.m. Report of a larceny from a vehicle at the Comfort Inn on Dayton Street. Police said car tires were stolen.
  • 12:37 p.m. Report of credit card fraud at the Doubletree Hotel on Ferncroft Road.
  • 1:33 p.m. Report of a break-in to a car at Brutole's.
  • 4:06 p.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with personal injuries on Route 1 at Four Seasons Trading Post. Police said one person suffered a head injury.
  • 5:22 p.m. Report of fraud at Dick's Sporting Goods involving counterfeit bills in the amount of $100.
  • 7:12 p.m. Report of a road rage incident at the corner of Maple Street and Conifer Hill Drive. A caller said there was a man with a hatchet.
  • 8:50 p.m. Report of a suspicious activity at a Cottage Avenue home. A caller said there was a man in his underwear.

Saturday, July 20

  • 3:15 a.m. An officer responded to a report of a break-in to a home on Holten Street.
  • 10 a.m. Report of a dog bite at a Burley Street home. The Animal Control Officer was notified.
  • 1:06 p.m. Report of a car break-in on Locust Street.
  • 4:18 p.m. Report of larceny at a Trinity Street home.
  • 6:11 p.m. Report of power outages on Beacon Street.
  • 7:33 p.m. Paul Sherry, 59, of 22 Foster St., Danvers, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop in Danvers Square. He was charged with driving with a suspended license (subsequent offense).
  • 10:04 p.m. Report of a break-in to a home on Dayton Street.

Sunday, July 21

  • 1:35 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Police issued a court summons to a person, but no further details were available.
  • 2:59 a.m. Jennifer Simmons, 29, of Weymouth, was arrested, following a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Maple and Nichols streets. She was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • 4:10 a.m. Report of a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries at Walnut Grove Cemetery on Sylvan Street.
  • 4:49 a.m. A cat was struck by a vehicle on Elliott Street.
  • 7:05 a.m. Police responded to a report of malicious damage at the Beverly Hospital at Danvers complex. Police said a Dumpster was spray-painted.
  • 2:39 p.m. Report of a larceny at a Putnam Lane home. Police said a small metal kneeler was stolen.
  • 2:41 p.m. Report of a shoplifting at Walmart. The suspect was described as a white male wearing a white hat.
  • 3:20 p.m. Police received a report of someone threatening a security guard at the Liberty Tree Mall.
