Route 128 Plugged After Multiple Crashes

Multiple car crashes on Route 128 are causing congestion through Danvers and neighboring communities on Wednesday.

It is slow-going on Route 128 through Danvers on Wednesday night because of car crashes in both directions.

One crash happened on Route 128 southbound near exit 22 for Route 62. The other crash happened northbound between (exit 24) Endicott Street and exit 23  (Route 35/High Street). Injuries were reportedly not major with either crash but that the northbound crash left a “debris field.”

The first crash was reported at about 5:15 p.m.

Traffic on the southbound was slow and backed up to exit 21. On the northbound side, traffic was at a near-standstill back to exit 44 on I-95 at the split for Route 128 in Peabody.

Another crash was reported on the northbound side just past exit 22 just before 6 p.m.

Danvers police, fire and Lyons ambulance plus State Police were all on scene at the crashes.

No further information was immediately available on the crash.

Or Danvers community? where are the police? I keep asking...

What do the police have to do with it? These were low speed accidents on a terribly designed section of road. What would police presence have changed besides making it even harder for the drivers to pay attention?

We clearly have a speed and dangerous driving issues in Danvers. Within past 30 days two pedestrians run over-114 and Hwy 62, dui mowed down pole on 62, two vehicle headon collision #35, rollover 128 and now this accident. Is there no police presence monitoring speed and traffic? I'd say we have a dangerous driving situation in our community.

Oh guest............ It's Christmas and you are still on top of your soapbox blaming the police for everything bad that happens in Town........Is EVERYTHING the police departments fault in your opinion? You should spend more of your time enjoying the holidays and less time shaking your fist at speeding cars..........Have A Merry Christmas guest!! xoxoxoxox Les

You misunderstand. I'm not blaming anyone. I'm merely calling upon the Danvers Police force to address the very serious issues that have led to the MULTIPLE and avoidable accidents. Merry Christmas.
