Sex Offender Arrested at Motel 6 on Warrant

Danvers police arrested a Level 3 Sex Offender Monday night at Motel 6 where he was a guest on an active warrant from Salem District Court for failure to register as a sex offender.

Danvers police arrested a Level 3 Sex Offender staying at the on Route 1 on Monday night. The man, Justin Devlin, 26, of 107 Park St., Lynn, had a warrant out for his arrest for failure to register as a sex offender in Salem.

Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Bettencourt said Officer Robert Santo was at the motel checking the guest registry at 8:59 p.m. when Santo noticed Devlin’s name on the list and determined there was an active warrant out for his arrest, dating from Feb. 8.

Devlin was taken into custody without incident and booked and held at the . He was arraigned on the warrant charge in Salem District Court on March 8.

The Level 3 status is the highest given by the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board. It’s a determination by the board that the individual has a high risk of reoffending and thus poses a degree of danger to the public such that active notification to the community is in the best interest of public safety.

According to the record published by the Sex Offender Registry Board, Devlin’s offense dates to July 30, 2002 when he was convicted on a charge of unnatural and lascivious acts with a child under 16.
