America Remembers Last Doughboy Today

The flag flew at half mast today outside Town Hall in honor of World War I veteran Frank Buckles, who buried today at Arlington National Cemetery. He died at the age of 110 on Feb. 27.

The American flag outside and flags across the nation are flying at half mast today in honor of the last surviving American World War I veteran, who died on Feb. 27.

U.S. Army Corporal Frank W. Buckles of West Virginia was 110. President Barack Obama issued a proclamation on Feb. 28 that flags at all public, government and military sites should be flown at half mast from sunrise to sunset in honor of Buckles’ burial, which was today at Arlington National Cemetery.
