Culvert Work Will Mean Detours, Possible Traffic Delays on Route 62

Albanese D&S, Inc., of Dracut, is replacing the Maple Street (Route 62) culvert at Beaver Brook.

Expect traffic delays and detours in the coming weeks on a portion of Maple Street.

Albanese D&S, Inc., of Dracut, is replacing the Maple Street (Route 62) culvert at Beaver Brook. The Danvers Department of Public Works said the work will include installing “a new precast culvert, cast-in-place concrete wing walls, new stone rip rap within existing stream bed and stream banks, as well as bank restoration, roadway restoration, and abandonment of the existing culvert.”

  • Week of June 9: Mobilize on-site and begin brush clearing / site preparation
  • Week of June 16: Setup traffic controls and perform site surveys
  • Week of June 23: Begin construction on upstream headwall
  • Week of July 7: Close Maple Street and begin culvert construction
  • Week of Aug. 4: Open Maple Street, begin construction of downstream headwall
  • Week of Aug. 25: Complete construction and begin site restoration

Extended work hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday will be allowed “to facilitate minimum disruption to traffic” on Maple Street. Residents will have access to their properties during construction.

Danvers will have a resident engineer from CDM Smith on site during the project. The name and contact information will be provided at a later date.
