Danvers Unemployment Up from Last Year, Last Month

Danvers unemployment went up slightly from last year.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development recently released their June unemployment numbers for counties and towns throughout the state, including Danvers. 

Danvers saw an increase in unemployment from May to June of this year, as well as from June 2012 to June of this year. 

Unemployment rose in Danvers from 6.3 percent in June of 2012 to 6.5 percent this past June. Unemployment had gone down to 5.7 percent in May of this year.

As of June, there were 963 Danvers residents without jobs, out of the total 14,789 total labor force in Danvers. The labor force in Danvers, which is the total number of employable individuals, went up a fraction from last year, going from 14,778 to 14 789.

Statewide, unemployment was up in June as well as year-to-date. June unemployment throughout the state rose by 0.7 of a percent to 7.4 percent this past June. Statewide unemployment over the year jumped up by 0.5 percent to 6.9 percent.
