Memorial Day Parade on Monday

The annual Danvers Memorial Day parade will take place this year on Monday, May 26, beginning at 9 a.m.  

Frank Nerden, a U.S. Army veteran, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal. Frank served with the 114th Engineer Battalion during World War II earning a Bronze Star while engaged in the liberation of the Philippines. A Danvers resident, he is actively involved with Operation Troop Support. The Danvers Veterans Council is honored to designate him as Grand Marshal for this year’s parade.  

All Danvers veterans are urged to march in the parade.  For those unable to march, a trolley will be available at Town Hall and is handicapped accessible.

The parade will start from Town Hall at 9 a.m. sharp on Monday, May 26, and will follow the traditional route of previous years. Stops and placement of wreaths will be at the Porter Cemetery on High Street, Lane Parkway and the Memorial Flag Pole in Danvers Square.  A reviewing stand will be at the corner of Elm and Essex Streets.

The Memorial Day Exercise at Town Hall will commence at approximately 10 a.m. upon parade completion. The Danvers High School Marching Band and Chamber Singers will perform. Guest speaker will be Charles Gould, Commander of American Legion Post 180.
