Tree on Wire Caused Tuesday Evening Power Outage

A tree fell on the wires Tuesday night, causing a power outage affecting a portion of Danvers.

A tree fell on an electric wire on Collins Street on Tuesday night, knocking out power to many homes and businesses in Danvers.

It happened at just about 6 p.m. when the tree knocked out a feeder line to the south Danvers substation on Bow Street, according to Hamid Jaffari, director of engineering and operations for Danvers Electric.

Danvers Electric did not immediately have an estimate for how many customers were affected by the outage. Some customers along Route 114 that lost power were shifted to other sources and got their power back, Jaffari said.
