Water Treatment Plant Project Nearly Complete

The water treatment plant that serves Danvers and Middleton is receiving major renovations.

The significant upgrades to the Danvers and Middleton water treatment plant, totaling more than $20 million, are now 80 to 90 percent complete, according to an article in the Salem News.

The extensive renovations will help the plant meet new state regulations and will improve the quality of the water coming from Middleton and Danvers faucets.

The upgrades to the Vernon C. Russell Water Treatment Plant, which is located on Middleton Pond, will add 20 to 30 years of life to the facility.

“What remains now are the details,” said plant manager Jason McCarthy. “We have got one major piece left that needs to get started up. Everything else has been at least started up to the point where it’s ready to get handed off to us and we will be using it regularly.”
