What Was Your Favorite Part of Danvers' Annual Open House?

Residents get an up-close look at various town departments and facilities at the open house each year and there are always fun activities.

Danvers residents young and old flocked to Town Hall, the police station, fire headquarters, Danver Electric, the senior center and library Thursday for the town's annual open house activities.

Over at fire headquarters on High Street, engines and other vehicles were rolled out for display, along with informational and safety presentations, demonstrations of firefighter gear and the crowd favorite -- using the Jaws of Life and other equipment to take apart a car in a simulated wreck.

Another favorite of the day was the K-9 demonstration by officer Justin Ellenton and Falco, the department's canine. Falco sniffed out various items hiding in the grass and even showed how he would take down a suspect with Detective Robert Sullivan stepping in for that role.
