The question was presented at last week's Board of Selectmen meeting. Find out Police Chief Neil Ouellette's answer.

At last week's Board of Selectmen meeting, Selectman Dan Bennett raised a question he'd received from concerned residents: is 's athletic field going to be used for K-9 training this summer?

While Town Manager Wayne Marquis did not know the definite answer during the meeting, we checked back with him and Police Chief Neil Ouellette for this week's You Ask...Patch Answers.

Ouellette said the United State Police K-9 Association Region 4 Trials (the dogs' certification competition) was originally scheduled for the weekend of June 22-24 at the North Shore Vocational High School in Middleton.

As far as safety measures, Ouellette said, "these are all certified police/military K-9's, being handled by experienced police/military K-9 handlers."

Officer Ellenton advised there will be safety zones which will be roped off, and during the events spectators would not be allowed within those operating areas.

Danvers Kiwanis has been asked to host a food tent, with proceeds being donated to D.A.R.E.

Later in the weekend, a second phase of the event will be conducted in the state hopsital fields by Dayton and Gregory Street.
