Parent, Faculty Focus Groups to Talk New Special Education Director

School officials are holding two focus groups Feb. 9 for both parents and faculty involved with special education services to discuss the hiring of a new Director of Student Services.

As part of the process of hiring a new Director of Student Services, school officials are holding two focus group sessions Feb. 9 for those directly involved with special education services in the Danvers Public Schools.

The first session on Wednesday will be at 3 p.m. for faculty and a second session for parents will be held at 7 p.m. Both meetings will take place in the Central Office Conference Room at and should last about 1-1/2 hours, according to Superintendent of Schools Lisa Dana.

“This is an opportunity to have an important voice in the vision for and direction of the Danvers Public Schools. We look forward to your participation,” Dana said in an announcement.

The open position, which covers special education services, preschool and a district summer program, will be vacant as of October when . Curtis announced her decision to retire in December and Dana hopes to have the position filled by July 1.
