School Officials Eye Work at Smith School Next

If the selectmen agree to move forward, it will be the third time Danvers will submit a proposal to renovate or build a new Smith School.

With the unveiling of the $70 million Danvers High School renovation and expansion project on Saturday, Danvers school officials next set their sights on tackling the Smith Elementary School.

The School Committee last week approved submitting a statement of interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority to renovate or replace the 40-year-old school. The Board of Selectmen is expected to discuss the issue at its Tuesday meeting, reported the Salem News.

If the selectmen agree to move forward, it will be the third time Danvers will submit a proposal to renovate or build a new Smith School. The discussion is still in the early stages so there is no dollar amount associated with the project yet, reported the Salem News.
