Danvers Girls' Soccer Bests Marblehead in Double OT; Football Felled By Masco

The Falcons girls' soccer team won on penalty kicks in double overtime while the Danvers High football squad was knocked from the playoffs Masconomet on Friday.

The postseason stretch came to an end for Danvers Falcons' football Friday night.

Despite the home field advantage and a solid 6-1 record for Danvers, the Masconomet Chieftains dominated the game and ended the night with a 30-0 victory over Danvers.

Masconomet now advances to the semi-finals of the Division 3 Northeast bracket against Marblehead while Danvers has two non-playoff games (next week at Wilmington and then it's TBD) before the annual Thanksgiving Day contest at Gloucester.

It was a better day for the Falcons girls' soccer squad though -- the ladies took down Marblehead in a wild game, 2-1, that went into double overtime and was finally decided on penalty kicks.

The Falcons now play at Wilmington Monday (4 p.m.) in the quarterfinals for Division 2 North. The Wildcats are seeded 1st and received a bye on the first round.

Boys' soccer hosts Greater Lowell Sunday (6:30 p.m.) in a first round game in Division 2 North.
