Danvers High Football Claims First League Crown in 8 Years

The Falcons are the NEC South champs this year with a 5-1 record and headed to the playoffs.

The Falcons pulled it off Friday night -- a 26-7 drubbing over the Salem Witches and Danvers' first league crown in eight years.

The win puts Danvers 5-1 for the season and on top of the Northeastern Conference South Division with only Winthrop to go this Friday. Alex Valles and Anthony Cordoba had two touchdowns apiece for the Falcons.

Due to the fact Winthrop lost its game against Lynn Classical that same night, it meant the Falcons didn't have to share their glory with anyone. Danvers' spot in the playoffs is also secure. Playoff seedings won't be announced until Oct. 27 by the MIAA.
