Danvers Teams Kick Off MIAA Tournaments This Week

Danvers High School and St. John's Prep have multiple teams in the hockey and basketball tournaments.

Two Danvers High basketball teams and two hockey teams as well as St. John’s Prep basketball and hockey teams head into the MIAA tournament this week.

Danvers High School

Boys basketball

Danvers High boys hoops takes on the winner of Marblehead/Chelsea, which square off on Monday. Danvers will play the winner at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Danvers.

Danvers is the number 2 seed in the Division 2 North tournament and finished the year at 17-3. The top seed in the Division 2 North tourney is New Mission, which went 18-2 this year.

 

Girls basketball

Danvers High girls basketball will take on Pentucket at 7 p.m. Thursday at Pentucket.

The winner will play third-seeded Arlington Catholic on Saturday at Woburn High School.

Danvers is the number 11 seed and finished the year at 11-9. Pentucket is the number 6 seed and went 16-6.

 

Boys hockey

Danvers High squares off against Amesbury at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday in Chelmsford.

Danvers finished the year at 10-9-1 and is the number 8 seed in the Division 2 North tournament. Amesbury went 8-8-4 and is the number 9 seed.

The winner of Tuesday’s game will skate against Beverly at 7:45 p.m. Friday in Stoneham.

 

Girls hockey

The Beverly/Danvers girls hockey team will take on the winner of the St. Mary’s/Hingham game that takes place on Wednesday. Beverly/Danvers will play the winner at Saturday at Salem State University.

Beverly/Danvers has the number 2 seed in the tourney after a 17-2-2 regular season. The top seeded team in the tourney is Acton-Boxboro, which went 19-2-0.

 

St. John’s Prep

Boys basketball

St. John’s Prep, which is the top seeded team in the Division 1 North tournament, will play the winner of Chelmsford/Lowell, which play on Tuesday.

SJP, which went 16-4 this year, will play the winner at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Prep.

  

Boys hockey

St. John’s Prep will take on Arlington at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Woburn.

The winner of that game will play the winner of the St. John’s (Shrewsbury)/Burlington game on Friday.

St. John’s Prep is the number 15 seed in the tournament after a 9-9-2 season. Arlington is the number 2 seed after a 12-3-5 season.
