Rounds 3-10 of the MLB draft get underway at 1 p.m. Friday, and Connaughton could go in the top 5 rounds, according to a recent Sports Illustrated article.

Connaughton’s draft stock may have taken a bit of a hit when he decided to return to Notre Dame for his senior season of basketball. Connaughton, a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher with a 95 mph fastball, is ranked as the No. 112 overall prospect by MLB, No. 128 overall by Baseball America.

Connaughton is an Arlington native.
