Emerging Fashion Trends at Golden Globes

By Heidi Nicholson & Lisa Almeida - co-owners Bella Sera Bridal  www.bellaserabride.com

As dress shop owners, we are excited to see how the emerging trends we saw at the Golden Globes last night will translate locally. The red carpet tends to dictate what we will see in the upcoming season with many designers taking their cues from the fashions worn by the Hollywood A-listers who seemed to keep it fairly classic and clean this year. We were watching closely of course and wanted to share our top picks.

We thought Taylor Swift hit it out of the park. She looked amazing in her black and cherry red Carolina Herrera dress. As always, her look was both appropriate and gorgeous. The two-tone gown fit her perfectly and her hair and accessories were a perfect complement.

There were a lot of deep jewel tones like the jaw dropping crimson gown with built-in cape by Ralph Lauren that was flawlessly worn by Lupita Nyong’o. Most fashion critics pegged her as best dressed the minute she arrived! Crisp, clean lines added to the classic look. Amy Adams was another standout in her low-cut Valentino jewel-tone gown.

Metallics and dresses with all over shimmer were also a hit. Kate Beckinsale was stunning in her Zuhair Murad gown. She looked elegant and classic and the dress was definitely a head turner!

There was again a fair amount of women in white. Kerry Washington looked adorable in her white Balenciaga gown that showed off her baby bump. So cute!  Most of the lines were very clean. Not a lot, if any, lace or ruffles. Even the men were wearing the classic tux and bow tie!
