10 Compete for Danvers Idol Title Friday Night

The finals round for the 6th Annual Danvers Idol is June 28 at Danvers High School.

Ten contestants from around Massachusetts will take the stage in the Danvers High auditorium June 28 for a chance to become the next Danvers Idol.

The contest, which is in its sixth year, saw 38 vocalists compete in a preliminary round on June 15 and 10 finalists emerge from that group. The initial round was held at Danvers Community Access Television studios and the taped show has aired for the past two weeks on DCAT.

The finals round gets underway Friday night at 7 p.m. during which the contestants will perform a song of their choice before four judges and a live audience.

The 10 finalists are:

  • Alexandra Valenti of Manchester-by-the-Sea
  • Brittany Hill of Milford
  • Eben Bein of Somerville
  • Greg Knight of Dorchester
  • Isaac Willnow of Hamilton
  • Jilly Martin of Chelmsford
  • Katie Donnelly of Beverly
  • Kerrin Mullen of Merrimac
  • Olivia Wendel of Lexington
  • Philip Pereira of Lynn

The top three contestants will then perform again that night (with two songs) before a winner is crowned. The audience, which will be able to vote, will actually serve as the fifth judge during the finals and determine the top three singers.

There are cash prizes and studio recording time for the top three, and the winner gets to perform live before a crowd of 25,000 or more at the July 3 fireworks at Plains Park.
