FroYo Expansion, New Route 1 Pub and More North Shore Food Buzz

We know Danvers residents don’t just stay in town when they want a night out and a break from cooking.

Restaurant comings and goings, new business and the best dishes and recipes are among the items that have appeared on area Patch sites over the past month.

Danvers

The FroYo expansion continues to take over the North Shore! Starting first with 's , the craze has continued with  in May, and  at the beginning of the month. 

And now, Top It Your Way Yogurt Bar has made its grand opening in Danvers at the Giblee Plaza on Route 114 (85 Andover St.)

The self serve yogurt bar will feature 12 soft serve frozen yogurt flavors that will change weekly. Fresh fruit and toppings will be available to scoop onto the yogurt. Prices are by weight.

After a year of inactivity, was approved to be transferred to

 Attorney Paul Crochiere told selectmen the liquor license transfer would allow for Steven Tedesco, the owner of the business complex at 100 Newbury Street, to begin a new business venture.

The restaurant will seat 130 people, with an 18-stool bar. The restaurant, Crochiere said, is designed to be a family-style restaurant, featuring American- style pub food.  

Peabody

Italian dining is coming back to the Northshore Mall. 

The owners of a will be appeared before the Licensing Board and were approved for a full liquor license.

Peabody attorney John Keilty, who is representing North Shore Food Group, LLC, says the owners also operate the Venetian Moon Ristorante in Reading and plan to offer a similar style of Italian dining with a martini bar at Scosso.

Keilty said the owners and Simon Property Group have a lease agreement for the space vacated by Bertucci's in 2009.

The Italian eatery is slated to open mid-September.

Salem

has moved to Museum Place Mall.

relocated from its Washington Street location inside Ben & Jerry's earlier this month.

A ribbon-cutting for the business, specializing in a "creative approach toward organic sustainability," was held on May 15.

Hours in the new mall location (it's located in space 110, the old Turtle Alley spot) are noon to 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Saturday Night Live stars Andy Samberg and Will Forte enjoyed a Memorial Day meal at Finz Monday night.

Owner George Carey later confirmed the actors had enjoyed dinner at his restaurant. They had lobster, according to Carey.

Hamilton-Wenham

The restaurant closed in April to undergo renovations and Leone said he expects it to reopen in September.

Hamilton and Wenham fire departments responded to 15 Walnut on Saturday for a fire in the ventilation system of the restaurant. The good news? 

Lynnfield

 Bob is a Burlington native while Hope formerly lived on Hart Road with her family in Lynnfield and attended school in town before moving to Stoneham in the 10th grade. 

While this eatery is on the other side of the continent, its local influences are all over the menu. The Lynnfield sandwich is roast beef, bacon, melted cheddar, onions, and bbq sauce. The Burlington’s Best sandwich is smoked turkey, bacon, melted cheddar cheese and bbq sauce.

The newest business in Lynnfield, opened up last weekend and reports that so far, it is enjoying brisk customer traffic. Many area residents may remember the as the former home of Mr. Santo Hair Design.

The eatery is run by Loui and Nora Kotsaninis, who have lived in Lynnfield for the past four years. Prior to opening the new business in Lynnfield, the husband and wife team owned and later sold Stella's Pizza in neighboring Saugus.

Marblehead

Fresh bread and baked goods have come to Marblehead. of the new bakery on Washington Street.

Following the Board of Selectmen's approval of a liquor license transfer at Abbot Hall,  the local man opening Joey D's Italian Grill on Pleasant Street said he hopes to open for business next week.

will open in the 30-seat space formerly occupied by Hooked Seafood & Grill, located at 115 Pleasant Street - directly across the street from Warwick Place and adjacent to The Rip Tide.

The line of local residents looking to get their first taste of Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt stretched down Atlantic Avenue Friday afternoon

Amid a crowd of local students, owner Michael Hennessy was happy to report that he had already sold some 500 cups by the time the afternoon rush subsided.

"It really has been incredible," Hennessy said. "This is the first time it's slowed down a little bit all day."

The new yorgurt chain, which offers customers the chance to mix and match their favorite frozen yogurt flavors and choose from a host of toppings, is the third to open in Massachusetts.

Swampscott

The first Swampscott Farmers’ Market is in full swing. Soon after the cow bell rang at the first Swampscott Farmers Market vendors saw their goods swept up by visitors.

The sweep was so complete at Big Sky Bread that the owners left early, at 11:30 am, vowing to return next Sunday with more bread.

Farmers Market volunteer Harold Rottenberg said the bakery sold some 150 to 200 loaves — in 90 minutes. 

The refrain was similar elsewhere in the Swampscott High parking lot. They promised to return with a greater stock of goods next week.
