Get Ready for Winter and the Holidays This Weekend

It's the first weekend of November and there's some events on the calendar that remind us that the cold and snow are coming, as well as the holiday season. Below you will find the when and where for some of our events picks, including a chance to properly throw out electronics and buy some some ski or skate gear, but there's a lot of other events going on this weekend in Danvers and the nearby area of the North Shore.

1. CRAFTS AND GIFTS FAIR AT THE POLISH CLUB

Where/When: Danvers Polish Club, 10-12 Cheever St., Danvers; Sunday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go: Local artisans will be selling original fashions, holiday items, embroidery, knitted goods, health and beauty products, jewelry and more.

2. ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

Where/When: Landmark School, Prides Crossing, Beverly; Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Why Go: This is a great chance to clean out the house before winter, safely and properly getting rid of broken or unwanted electronic equipment. Essentially, "anything with a plug" is accepted, plus grills, lawnmowers and similar items. Car batteries, large appliances and hazardous materials will not be accepted.

Pricing: $5 per item, $5 for a box of collected small items and $20 for a TV

3. SKI, SKATE, SNOWBOARD AND EQUESTRIAN CONSIGNMENT SALE

Where/When: Cutler Elementary School, Hamilton;  Saturday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and Sunday from noon–3 p.m.

Why Go: If your growing child like to ski, snowboard or skate, here's an affordable way to get them some "new" equipment. There will also be adult equipment for skiers, snowboarders, skaters and horseback riders. In addition to used equipment for sale, there will be new equipment from Wenham Sports Stop and The Equestrian Shop and Craft. If you have equipment to sell, it can be dropped off on Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

4. ANNUAL BAZAAR AT OUR LADY OF FATIMA

Where/When: Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Why Go: The annual bazaar at the church features Portuguese food, baked goods, basket raffles, handmade items, Christmas treasures, attic treasures and more.

5. BROOKSBY VILLAGE OPEN HOUSE AND ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR

Where/When: Brooksby Village, 300 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Visitors will have the opportunity to tour apartments at Brooksby and there will also be 30 crafters with handmade jewelry, paintings, holiday items, soaps, scarves, water colors, glass work, knitted items and more. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the vendors will be donated to The Brooksby Village Scholarship Fund for student employees who plan to attend a college or accredited trade school.

Pricing: $1 admission to arts and crafts fair (the open house is free)
