1. ARBELLA DRUM & BUGLE CORPS LOOKING FOR SOME NEW BAND MEMBERS
Where/When: Lauren Poussard Photography, 44 Maple St., Suite 1, Danvers; Sunday, 12-4 p.m.
Why Go: The Arbella Drum & Bugle Corps is holding an open house on Sunday at Lauren Poussard's photography studio to recruit some new band members for the 2014 season and offer a chance to meet with instructors. It's a reincarnation of a drum corps that hailed from Salem in the 1970s and 1980s. Read on to find out more about the North Shore band.

2. MODEL TRAIN LAYOUT BY THE NATIONAL MODEL RAILROAD ASSOCIATION HUB DIVISION
Where/When: Wenham Museum; Saturday through Monday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Why Go: The model train layout is one of the most popular events of the year at Wenham Museum, and it will be there for just three days. It will just add to the train excitement at the museum that celebrates childhood and New England family life.
Pricing: Included with museum admission, $8 for adults and $6 for children age 18 and under
Where/When: Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School's Ferrini auditorium; Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
Why Go: The students of Miles River Middle School bring to the stage the story of Dorothy and friends as they travel to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard.
Pricing: $10 for students and $6 for students
4. FREE ADMISSION FOR PEABODY RESIDENTS
Where/When: 34 Chestnut St., Salem; Sunday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: It's another winter community day on Sunday and the Phillips House Museum is offering free admission to Peabody residents who show proof of residency. Tours are 45 minutes each and run from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. You'll learn about the lives of the Phillips family and their domestic staff and view the collection of furnishings, Chinese export porcelain and ship paintings. Where/When: Lifoam, 2 Fifth St., Peabody (Centennial Industrial Park); Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Why Go: Styrofoam is recycable, but not through the curbside recycling program. This week, though, there is a program that accepts styrofoam for recycling from all area communities on the North Shore. Eligible styrofoam to recycle has the symbol 6 in the triangle with PS underneath it.
