My husband has made his mission to keep the hydrant between our house and the house next doorRead More shoveled out. It has been difficult because as soon as it was dug out, the plow covered it up again. Because of the depth of the snow he used a wrought iron "shephard's staff" plant holder as a marker. I give my husband credit as he's 72 yrs. old. Couldn't the fire dept. and/or town help out by supplying home owners who have hydrants near their property with markers to make it easier to find the hydrants when we get major snowfall?
