Downtown Danvers Business to Face Public Hearing

Danvers Coin, Jewelry and Estate Buyers in Danvers Square will face a public hearing in June, for allegedly violating town bylaws.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to hold a public hearing at their next meeting to decide if the Danvers Coin, Jewelry and Estate Buyers should have its license suspended, revoked, or limited.  Danvers Police Chief Neil Ouellette briefed the board at Tuesday night's meeting, stating the police department had found several problems when observing the Danvers Square establishment's system. Through investigation by Detective Robert Sullivan, Ouellette said the department learned that, in many instances, the description of the property taken in was very vague and not properply detailed. "As a result of that, [Sullivan] was unable to clarify if some of the jewelry was stolen," Ouellette said. Further investigation into the vaguely …

State Police Arrest Bank Robber in Danvers

Johanna P. Quish of Dorchester was arrested in Danvers on Monday.

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force and the Mass. State Police announced the arrest of alleged serial bank robber Johanna P. Quish, 45, of Dorchester, in Danvers at approximately 2 p.m. on Monday.  Quish allegedly robbed the Sovereign Bank branch located at 575 Boylston Street in Boston on April 13, 2012, according to an FBI release. Quish is being charged with a single count of unarmed bank robbery. The FBI appealed to the public for information about a series of bank robberies in the Commonwealth. The arrest was a direct result of information obtained from a public tip.  Quish was placed under surveillance by the task force, located in Danvers, and was arrested following a car stop on Monday, by the Massachusetts State Police. Danvers Police To Provide Child Safety Seats To Those in Need

The Danvers Police Department was among 28 communities in Mass. to receive the grant funds.

Courtesy of Danvers Police: The Danvers Police Department has received a $1500 grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Highway Safety Division to expand its children passenger safety efforts. Danvers is one of 28 communities in the Commonwealth awarded Child Passenger Safety Equipment grants, totaling $42,500, in federal funding for non-profits and municipal departments to reduce motor vehicle fatalities and injuries involving children.  The grants will be used primarily to purchase child safety seats for free distribution to parents and caregivers in need.
