But for the past few years, local skaters have had to look elsewhere for ice, as the town didn't ready the site for skating due to an ongoing budget crunch and unseasonable weather patterns. Thus, use of the site has been discouraged.
Around the same time, the town was forced to put off holding its annual Winter Carnival at the Meadows. There is a parking area off Hobart Street, and skaters of all shapes, sizes and abilities are welcome to go for a spin on the ice once the rink returns.
