Police say two men arrested in recent days are suspects in similar armed robberies in Peabody, Salem, Beverly and Danvers.
A Lynn man, who is a suspect in a Danvers robbery, has been arrested in connection to the armed robbery Sunday night at Town Variety on Central Street in Peabody. Dennis M. Porter, 43, of 25 Greatwoods Rd., Lynn, was taken into custody without incident at Pine Grove Estates on Route 1 shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday on a warrant for a probation violation and a charge of armed robbery. Glenn Roderick, 41, of 18 Elm St. #2, Peabody, was arrested earlier on a warrant for the Peabody armed robbery Monday afternoon. The Market Basket in Danvers was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday night.
An armed robbery occurred at the Market Basket in Endicott Plaza on Saturday night. It happened at about 7 p.m. The store typically closes at 9 p.m. and remained open afterward. After the robbery was reported, Danvers police searched the area and a State Police helicopter hovered overhead, using a search light to scan the area for a suspect. The suspect was a tall white man in his 40s wearing a grey winter jacket, according to description broadcast to area police departments on Saturday after the robbery. A man robbed an employee at a downtown business at knifepoint over the weekend.
A man held up an employee of a downtown drycleaners over the weekend, and police continue hunting for a suspect. The robbery occurred at Golden Star Cleaners at 81 Maple Street at 1:16 p.m. on Saturday, when a man wielding a shiny knife walked into the business and threatened the employee. “I don’t want to hurt you, just give me the money,” the robber allegedly told the employee. The man made off with less than $200. He was seen fleeing up Lummis Avenue, which is next to the drycleaner. The robbery took place at the Comfort Inn.
Danvers Police are investigating a report of an armed robbery at the Comfort Inn early Sunday morning. As of 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Lt. Carole Germano said the incident remained under investigation and officers were still on the scene. Germano said no other information could be released at that time. According to scanner reports, a man in a pickup truck outside the Dayton Street motel told a woman "he had a gun and would use it" before robbing her. Police said Raymond Wallace is a person of interest in the December robbery at Route 114 Borders in Peabody.
Police arrested a man in connection with Wednesday's Salem PetSmart robbery and authorities say there is a strong possibility the same man robbed a Peabody Borders in December. Raymond Wallace, 33, of 1 Courageous Ct., Salem, was arrested at his home at gunpoint just after midnight Thursday after police said he robbed PetSmart on Traders Way in Salem just before 10 p.m. "When the manager was closing, locking up, he [Wallace] appeared and pointed a gun at him [the manager] and told him to get back inside," Lt.
