Black Friday shoppers need to be careful for thick fog and the possibility of black ice on Thursday night and Friday morning.
Weather forecasters are warning that “an abundance of low-level moisture coupled with falling temperatures” may lead to some black ice during late Thursday night and the early morning hours of Friday. The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 9:28 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, warning Black Friday shoppers about the possibility of hazardous driving conditions. The weather service said that thick fog will develop in certain areas – especially “across the coastal plain” and near water bodies that will drop the visibility to a quarter mile or less. Black Friday shoppers headed out for early morning store openings are warned to be on the lookout for “locally dense fog and the plausibility for black ice along roadways.” “…

The Liberty Tree Mall plus several other big box stores in Danvers plan to open earlier than ever on Friday, Nov. 23 for Black Friday.
The 12:30 a.m. opening on Black Friday at Liberty Tree Mall and several other stores in Danvers will be the earliest ever. After the opening time was announced, many commenters on our Facebook page lamented that the earlier opening are creeping into what should be a break from shopping for family time. And the Boston Globe reports that retailers are pushing to repeal Blue Laws, which ba stores frrom opening on Thanksgiving Day. So tell us, will you be out thee on Black Friday? Will you get up ealy for the special? Or will you stay up late on Thanksgiving night to go shopping?

Liberty Tree Mall will join other area Simon malls and open at 12:30 a.m. on Black Friday.
Liberty Tree Mall will open at 12:30 a.m. this year on Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving known for its early morning shopping deals to kick off the holiday shopping season. The opening time will be the earliest ever for the mall, which is owned by Simon Property Group. It is part of a decision by Simon to open all of its malls in eastern Massachusetts at 12:30 a.m., including nearby North Shore Mall in Peabody. It also includes the Square One Mall in Saugus and the Burlington Mall, Simon said in an announcement issued on Tuesday.
