Another weekend snowstorm that could bring as much as a foot of snow is headed toward Danvers for the weekend.
Less than half of the town's snow budget is left as another winter storm is forecasted to move into Danvers this weekend. If the forecast materializes, it will be the third weekend snowstorm this month. Some forecasts call for close to a foot of snow in Danvers, but other possible tracks send it to the west and could bring only 1-3 inches to the North Shore. "This weekend, it's more snow, and a foot where it stays all snow, perhaps a few towns picking up more," writes WHDH-TV meteorologist Chris Lambert is his latest blog. At some point, the snow may mix with sleet or rain in Danvers, Lambert said, likely on Saturday evening as the wind comes in from the east. But that won't last and the wind will turns back to the northeast. The storm …

The driving ban kept major problems to a minimum during the blizzard on Friday and Saturday in Danvers.
A snowplow caught fire early Saturday morning and a carbon monoxide detector gave an early warning to one family that their furnace vent was blocked with snow during the blizzard in Danvers. Besides that, the Blizzard of 2013 caused very few problems in Danvers. First responders said that the driving ban, which lasted for 24 hours under executive order of Gov. Deval Patrick, helped out, they said. “We found pretty much everyone abiding by the ban,” said Danvers Police Lt. Dana Milne. On Twitter, several tweets lauded the plowing of Danvers streets. Andrew Gallione noted that Danvers streets were clear and there was still snow on Beverly roads. Mary Beth Perry tweeted that Danvers roads were "perfection" and called them the best on the …
Light, fluffy snow on rooftops can act as a sponge for rain, which is in the forecast for Monday. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency offers these tips.
With rain in the forecast for Danvers on Monday, the Blizzard of 2013 may not be finished wreaking havoc. While temperatures dropped overnight on Friday resulting in light, fluffy snow, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) warns that fluffy snow piled high on roofs can act as a sponge, absorbing rain and adding additional stress to structures. Relatively flat roofs are particularly vulnerable, MEMA says. In other cases, roof ice dams have formed causing water build-up, leading to interior damage. These conditions can accelerate the snowmelt. To minimize the risk of over-stressing a building roof due to accumulated or drifting snow: Information from a release by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) was used …

Thanks to the blizzard, Danvers is expecting as much as 2 feet of snow this weekend. See how many inches have fallen in your area with the LIVE map below.
The map above, provided by the National Weather Service, shows snowfall in the past 24 hours. It is updated every 6 hours. This is not a map showing overall snow depth: It only tracks the amount of snow that has fallen in the past day. The map is centered around the red marker, which is in the middle of Danvers Patch's coverage area.

And that poor guy in the sidewalk snow thrower struggled to get the downtown area neighborhoods cleared out. He passed by my office a couple of times and had to clear the chute multiple times. The giant snowblower was pressed into service to eat away the snow bankings in the downtown area too. I'd say …   more ›
