Don't let dinner get sidelined just because you are. By using precooked chicken and already diced veggies, a healthy and satisfying homecooked dinner can be had in minutes.
Autumn colors are just beginning to pop in the trees, while the crisp breeze sweeps up fallen leaves, and swirls them haphazardly through the air. These are the scenes of fall, and as much as I desire to marvel in all of Mother Nature’s bounty, I am blessed with the season’s other gifts. Yes, fall has arrived in all her glory, and with it: Flu season. “Everything's going around,” or so I hear, and even though everyone seems to have had It - it doesn’t make me feel any better. I can’t even fake it. Moms (and dads!) can’t get sick. This mantra replays over and again in my mind as I make my best effort to muddle through another day. Of course once mom is down for the count, the proverbial wheel is off the wagon. The house is a free-for-all: …

Ted Londi grew up working in restaurants, and knew he could do it better, proving so when he opened Londi's Famous Roast Beef, Pizza & More in Danversport in 2009.
Londi's Famous Roast Beef, Pizza and More specializes in roast beef, salads and calzones. But their extensive menu has many more choices, from subs and triple decker club sandwiches to specialty pizzas that owner Ted Londi has learned to guage what's popular according the season. "Right now, we are selling a lot of roast beef and club sandwiches," he said. "But in the winter it's all steaks and dinners. But pizza is all the time, starting on Thursday through Sunday - it's all about pizza." At 116 Water St. in the Danversport, Londi's was one of the first businesses to open after the infamous Thanksgiving Day Blast shook the neighborhood back in 2005. This upscale takeout restaurant was designed with an open concept and plenty of seating. …

With the new school year upon us, help get your kids’ brains working again with this fun, free daily email newsletter.
Danvers students go back to school next week, which means it’s time for an abundance of expensive school supplies, backpacks full of complicated text books and dreaded questions about math homework. With back-to-school stresses piling up, Laura Overdeck wants to let children and parents in on a little secret: math can be fun. Really. Overdeck is on a mission to change the way Americans think about math — especially given that math anxiety has been tracked in kids as young as age 5. This is what inspired her to create Bedtime Math, a nonprofit that sends out a daily email with a math problem tailored to “wee ones,” little and big kids. Overdeck is a Westfield native who now lives in Short Hills, NJ. She is an astrophysics graduate and MBA…

Brian Lejeune, owner of Solar Infusions, extols the health benefits of tanning, while offering end of season savings on tanning sessions.
With the end of summer nearing, Brian Lejeune, owner of Solar Infusions on High Street, is running a new promotion to help folks continue catching the rays. Starting Aug. 13, customers will enjoy unlimited tanning for just $88 through the end of 2012. “It’s a great deal,” he said. “People are getting about four and a half months for a really good price.” Lejeune explained that many Solar Infusions clients begin tanning for cosmetic reasons. But when they discover the health benefits, he’s found, they continue with sessions. "It's fun to teach people the science of tanning, the biology of how the body responds, and why it makes them feel good - what happens to their bodies biologically with the production of vitamin D, which helps …

Try this healthy and delicious meal idea tonight for lobster dinner on a budget!
For me, summer means seafood. We are a big seafood family; scallops, steamers, shrimp, oysters and the creme de la creme: lobster. Perhaps, in part, because a lot of our family members are originally from Gloucester, but we started our kids on seafood at a very young age, just like our parents did with us. As a result-they will eat anything. On the one hand, I’m thrilled that they aren’t picky eaters, on the other, it can get expensive when even the youngest of them is whining for lobster! With lobster prices falling, lately, I decided there was no time like the present to satisfy the cravings, and headed over to Cherry Street Fish Market to see about some "lobstah"! Boy was I glad I did. Cherry Street has chicken lobsters already steamed…

The students' artwork is currently on display at the Transportation Building in Boston.
Alexander Perkins and Marissa Giampietro, both eighth graders at Holten-Richmond Middle School, received Silver Key Awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Annual Awards, and will have the honor of their acrylic paintings on display at the Transportation Building in Boston from Feb. 13 through early April. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have had a legacy of acknowledging the efforts of artists and their craft since 1923. Holten-Richmond art teachers Jeff Surette and Sioban McDonald have been impressed by the students talent and commitment to their art, often putting in extra time in the studio to bring their pieces to fruition. "This is an amazing honor and the two kids are wonderful students and artists," Surette said. Both kids …
