It was a big win on Saturday as Danvers High School became repeat Divison 3 state champions.
What a win! Danvers High School completed back-to-back season as Division 3 boys basketball state champions with a win over Smith Academy on Saturday at DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 66-50. The leading scorer for the Falcons was Nick McKenna with 20 points. All five Danvers Falcons were in double digits in the win. A win on Tuesday night sent the boys basketball team at Danvers High School to the Div. 3 North finals again this year.
Falcons fans will soon be very familiar with the trip to Tsongas Arena in Lowell. The Falcons boys basketball team (21-2) is again headed to the Div. 3 North finals there on Saturday - putting the team just one win away from returning to the Eastern Massachusetts championship. Saturday's game will be the first of two divisional championship games in three days for Danvers High School teams. The boys hockey team will play for the Div. 2 North championship on Monday night at the same place - Tsongas Arena in Lowell. The Danvers High School boys hockey team won its Div. 2 North semifinal game on Monday night.
The Danvers High School boys hockey team defeated Lincoln-Sudbury 5-3 on Monday night and is now headed to the Div. 2 North finals next Monday in Lowell. It will be the first appearance for Danvers in the North finals since 2005, reports the Salem News. The Falcons (13-6-4) will meet defending state champion Wilmington High School (19-3-2) in the finals. Wilmington advanced with a dominating 6-0 win on Monday night over Lincoln-Sudbury. The Div. 2 North finals will be played on Monday, March 11 at Tsongas Arena in Lowell. An exact game time has not yet been announced. The winner advances to the state championship at TD Garden.

The Beverly-Danvers co-op girls hockey team is in the quarterfinals after a weekend win over Medford.
It's on to the quarterfinals for the Beverly-Danvers cooperative girls hockey team after an 8-1 win over Medford on Saturday. The Salem News reports that it was the second-ever playoff win for the team, which next faces Arlington Catholic on Wednesday night. The quarterfinal game will be at 8 p.m. at O'Brien Rink in Woburn. The team wears the Beverly colors but includes 10 players from Danvers High School. The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association officially recognizes it as a cooperative team and calls it the "Beverly-Danvers" team in tournament seeding. The Danvers High School boys hockey team will meet rival Beverly on Friday night in Woburn.
The boys hockey team at Danvers High School will face North Shore rival Beverly High School in the next round of the Div. 2 North boys hockey tournament on Friday night. The Falcons (11-6-4) advance to face the Panthers (18-1-1) after a big 9-1 win over Somerville High School on Tuesday night, reported the Salem News. The win set a team record for most goals in a game and largest margin of victory in the postseason, the News reported. In Tuesday's win, senior winger A.J. Couto had three goal, plus Rob Buchanan's 2 goals and 2 assists, Adam Merry's 2 goals and captain Joe Strangie's 4 assists all contributed in the big win for the No. 8 seed. The defending champion Danvers High School boys basketball team heads into the postseason this week.
The Danvers High School boys' basketball team, after a undefeated season in the Northeastern Conference, heads to the post season as the No. 2 seed in the Div. 3 North tournament. The team plays its first-round game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Danvers High School at 7 p.m. versus Greater Lawrence Technical School. The Falcons (18-2) enter the tournament as defending Div. 3 champions after the team's first ever state championship win last year over St. Joseph's. The team went 16-0 in its 2012-13 NEC schedule. The No. 1 seed in Div. 3 North is North Reading, which was the Cape Ann League champion at 20-0.
