Man Leads Police on Short Chase up Rt. 128 After Suspected Drug Deal

The driver of an SUV that police chases up Route 128 on Tuesday was making "pushing and pulling motions" before he finally stopped for police.

When a police detective saw what appeared to be a drug deal occur in a Danvers neighborhood on Tuesday, he pursued one of the involved vehicles toward Route 128. But when he went to stop the BMV SUV, it didn't stop. Instead, he could see the driver moving around in the vehicle. The SUV finally stopped on Route 128 in Beverly and the driver was arrested. Carlos J. Perez, 34, of 556 Chestnut St., No. 3, in Lynn was charged with failure to stop for police, resisting arrest and subsequent offense of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. It started at about 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday while a Danvers police detective, working on a special assignment with a team from the Drug Enforcement Agency, was monitoring a Danvers neighborhood along…

Cafe Worker Doesn't Take Flim-Flam Scam, Chases Down Suspect

A worker at Daily Harvest Cafe stepped up when she thought she was getting scammed by a customer, chasing him down while allegedly getting assaulted.

When a customer at Daily Harvest Cafe kept switching out bills, one employee knew something wasn't right. The customers was allegedly trying to pull a "fast one" where he would get the employee to take bigger bills out of register. Eventually, George Lott, 68, of 39 Boylston St. in Boston was arrested and charged with larceny from a person, assault and battery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. It all started at about 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday when the unnamed employee confronted Lott about his attempted scam. Lott kept changing bills and took back money that was not his, police said. After being confronted, Lott fled the High Street restaurant. The employee chased him out of the restaurant and up High Street, toward Walgreens and …
