The family and friends of a Danvers teen killed in a car accident in Salem earlier this summer had some harsh words for the driver following her sentencing in Salem District Court Thursday afternoon. Angelique Griffin, 25, of Salem, pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of vehicular homicide and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The passenger in her vehicle, Dillon Renard, 19, was killed on June 16, when the PT Cruiser Griffin was driving crashed into a parked tow truck outside All Star Collision Center on Boston Street. A fundraiser will be held Friday night at Beverly's Italian Community Center for a scholarship created in memory of Dillon Renard.
The family of Dillon Renard, a teen from Danvers killed in an alleged drunk driving accident in Salem, will host a scholarship fundraiser in his honor at the Beverly Italian Community Center on Friday night. The fundraiser, 'Dream for Dillon' will benefit the teen's scholarship fund, which will be awarded to a 2012 Salem High School graduate who receives special education services. "Dillon's family has set up this scholarship fund in his memory so we can assist others fulfill a dream that Dillon never had a chance to see come true," the scholarship fund website said. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of Dillon Renard, the Danvers teen who was killed in an early morning crash on June 16, the Salem News reports. Renard was killed just before 4 a.m. when the car he was traveling in hit a flat bed tow truck at All Star Collision Center on Boston Street in Salem. Renard was dead by the time emergency responders arrived on scene. Angelique Griffin, 25, of 30 Pleasant St. in Salem was driving the vehicle and is charged with motor vehicle homicide. Renard's family has filed suit against Griffin and Robert Cucurull, owner of the tow truck company, the outlet reports. Friends and family have been remembering the life of Dillon Renard of Danvers.
Family and friends have been taking the time to remember the life Dillon Renard, 19, of Danvers who was killed Saturday in a car accident on Boston Street in Salem. In the emotional aftermath, which included the Monday arraignement of the woman who was driving the vehicle in which Renard was a passenger, a utility pole outside All Star Collision Center, near the scene of the accident, has been transformed into a memorial for the teen. That memorial continues to grow by the day.
