Sequestration Budget Cuts Data: Which Mass. County Has the Most Federal Employees?

Essex County has more than 2,200 federal employees, most of whom work in the Treasury Department.

The numbers here show the federal employees in Massachusetts by county in 2012, according to the latest figures from Eye on Washington, a DC-based lobbying firm that tracks federal employment. It compiles the data from the Office of Personnel Management, Federal Employment Statistics and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In Essex County there are more than 2,200 federal employees, most of whom work in treasury. The Internal Revenue Service has a large facility in Andover. Online Gambling Ring Ends with Two Year Federal Prison Sentence for Local Man

A Danvers man was sentenced Thursday to two years in federal prison for his role in an illegal online gambling ring.

A Danvers man was sentenced to two years in federal prison on Thursday, and also ordered to forfeit $452,000 for running an illegal online gambling ring from his home on the North Shore, according to a report in the Salem News and a press release from the Internal Revenue Service. The sentence for John Giannelli Sr., 66, was handed down Thursday by a federal judge in New Hampshire. He pleaded guilty to money laundering, operating an illegal gambling business and five counts of impeding the administration of the Internal Revenue laws back in September.
