Construction on the new Kelly Volkswagen dealership on Route 114 continues to move along, as evidenced by the daily activity at the site. Plans are for the new and expanded dealership, which is moving down the road and still remaining in Danvers, to be open by mid summer.

New VW Dealership Working Toward Mid Summer Opening

The construction site for the new Kelly Volkswagen has been a hive of activity lately as crews work toward getting the dealership ready for a mid summer opening. The five-acre site at 72-74 Andover St. will house a state-of-the-art facility that will also be the first Danvers business to utilize a wind turbine, which will be installed atop the building. The 38-foot tall turbine will generate electricity to keep the lights on inside the service area and possibly exterior lighting as well as powering charging stations for electric cars. Kelly FIAT Moves Down the Road and Out of Town

Brian Kelly's FIAT dealership completed the move from Danvers last week and is now located at the former Lincoln-Mercury dealership across from the Northshore Mall in Peabody.

The former home of North Shore Lincoln-Mercury now has sporty little European cars filling the lot. And Kelly FIAT of Peabody is finally located in Peabody. Brian Kelly, of Kelly Automotive Group, is nearly done reshuffling and expanding his dealerships along Route 114. The FIAT dealership completed the move down the road last week from 72 Andover St. in Danvers to 1 Cross St. in Peabody and Kelly's Volkswagen dealership will relocate as well. The site at 72 Andover St., which is under construction, will become the new home of Kelly's Volkswagen with a lot for new cars, one for used vehicles and a wind turbine atop the building to generate electricity to recharge cars and keep the lights on inside. Auto Dealership to Build Town's First Wind Turbine

A new wind turbine will go on top of a new car dealership building now under construction along Route 114.

Danvers could be getting its first electric-producing wind turbine next summer at a Route 114 car dealership. The Zoning Board on Monday approved plans to put a turbine on top of the new Kelly Volkswagen dealership at 72-74 Andover St. While there is nowhere in the Danvers zoning bylaw that regulates wind turbines, attorney Nancy McCann said that the turbine will conform to the sections of the bylaws regulating antenna height. “It is something that is a growing trend,” she said of the turbine. The electricity generated from the turbine will power the service area lighting in the building and may also power the site lighting, depending on the bulb fixtures, she said.
