With 19th and 10th place finishes respectively, the boys' and girls' cross-country teams from Danvers High saw their 2010 season come to an end at the Eastern Mass. Championships on Saturday.
It was a tough field in the Division IV races and the competition proved too skilled for the cross-country teams from Danvers High on Saturday. The boys finished the day in 19th place, while the girls managed 10th at the MIAA Eastern Mass. Championships at Franklin Park. Both teams failed to advance to the All-State meets on Nov. 20 in Gardner. Leading the way for the lady Falcons was junior Haley Dyer, who finished 23rd, just two places and nine seconds behind Hingham's Alyssa Lumbert, who earned the final Division IV individual bid to All-States. "Haley Dyer had her best race since her [mid-season] injury," said Danvers head coach John Norris, "had she not been injured she surely would have gone on [to All-States]." "I love this course…

The St. John’s Prep cross-country team punched its ticket to the All-State meet with a fourth place finish at the Eastern Mass Divisional Championships on Saturday.
The St. John's Prep runners have given themselves a chance at a State title, as they finished in fourth place in the Division I race at the MIAA Eastern Mass Cross-Country Championships on Saturday. "I can't say that I am surprised, as we were pretty confident we were going to be in the top five," admitted head coach Ray Carey after the race. "The thing is you don't want to end up fifth and we were able to get fourth." The Eagles, Catholic Conference champs as well, accrued 169 points, seven points ahead of fifth place Acton-Boxborough (176) and only five points behind third place Methuen (164). Brookline finished in second place with 127 points and Lowell earned first with 107. The Prep was led by seniors Ben Halpin (16:19) and Jarrett …

The Danvers varsity field hockey team grabbed an easy 5-0 win over the visiting Revere Patriots on Tuesday, helping the team position itself in tournament play.
The Danvers High varsity field hockey team made a statement yesterday, delivering a 5-0 victory over the visiting Revere High team and notching their fourth straight win over the past week. It was a strong result following a postseason clinching victory on Friday against Peabody. The Falcons are now 10-6-1. "We are looking for every win in our last two games because that will help us with our seeding [in the tournament]," said Danvers head coach Barbara Damon. The Falcons came out flying, controlling the game from the opening whistle, but were only able to net one goal in the first half, due to outstanding goaltending from Revere's Eduarda Berry. Junior left-center-back Seth Kamens put the home team on top at the 12-minute mark, and …
