A small storm will move in on Sunday at about the time of the Super Bowl kickoff.
The continuing theme of storms this winter will likely continue on Sunday evening - a small storm that will likely deliver just enough snow to make the roads slippery. "It's not a biggie, or a least it won't be as it moves over us Sunday afternoon and evening," writes WHDH-TV meteorologist Pete Bouchard in his recent blog post. "Nonetheless, roads may slicken a bit, and there might even be enough to put the plow blade down on Cape Cod...Despite all its potential, the amounts will leave the snow hounds wanting." The coldest air of the winter is moving in on Wednesday, but expected to move out by the weekend.
The coldest air of the winter to date - by far - is moving in on Wednesday. Windchills are expected to be close to zero on Wednesday morning and possibly below zero on Thursday morning, which will be the coldest day since last February. The National Weather Service said that Wednesday morning's low temperature would be about 10 degree and Thursday morning's low temperature will be about 7 degrees with a wind chill of -2 degrees. The windchill temperature on Wednesday morning will be near 0, according to WHDH Chief Meteorlogist Pete Bouchard in his most recent blog, because of "a steady (not strong) breeze." Two separate storms forecasted to move across Danvers next week could drop accumulating snow, with a greater chance later on in the week.
A two part winter storm that could first move in on Sunday and last through Thursday could possibly bring some of the first measurable snow of the winter to Danvers. Pete Bouchard, chief meteorologist at Patch news partner WHDH-TV, said in a blog post Wednesday that the first storm from Sunday afternoon through Monday will have light precipitation. And that favors a greater chance of "wet than white," since heavy precipitation can pull in its own cold air. And Bouchard's co-worker, Jeremy Reiner, agreed by saying that "it does not look like a big storm" and "it does look like a cold storm."
