Man Allegedly Hits Mall Employee, Threatens Two Others in Shoplifting Getaway

A Lynn man faces several charges after allegedly striking an employee at the mall on Sunday.

The Lynn man who allegedly struck one mall employee with his car and threatened two other people turned himself in on Tuesday morning. Danvers police said Anthony Petruccelli, 38, of 5 Parrott St. in Lynn has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and shoplifting. It all started just after 4 p.m. on Sunday when he allegedly stole some action figures and pictures from the Little Shop of Treasures at the Liberty Tree Mall. An employee chased him out to the parking lot and as Petruccelli was trying to get away he allegedly struck the employee with his car.  The employee suffered scrapes and a swollen knee, police said.
