Casino Developer Needs to Decide 'Very Soon' Whether to Pursue Danvers Slots

The state Gaming Commission plans to hear from casino developers "very soon" whether they plan to pursue a slots parlor or casino and where they plan to put it.

The two casino developers that have not specified whether they plan a resort casino or slot parlor need to tell the state Gaming Commission “very soon” if they plan to pursue a slots parlor permit. That’s according to the spokeswoman for the Gaming Commission, who said the commission has prioritized the permitting processing for a slots parlor and plans to grant the state’s sole license by the end of 2013. Elaine Driscoll, the spokeswoman, made the comments on Tuesday after the Boston Globe’s report that PPE Casino Resorts MA, LLC is looking at the possibility of locating 1,200 slots in a 100,000 square foot parlor at Liberty Tree Mall. PPE is one of the two applicants that met last week's deadline to submit a deposit to the state Gaming …

What More Do You Want to Know About the Slots Parlor Plans?

News emerged on Monday that a casino developer from the Baltimore area is looking at Danvers to locate a slots parlor.

A casino operator based in Maryland wants to open a slots parlor in the state and is taking a look at Liberty Tree Mall as a possible location. On Monday, the Boston Globe reported that PPE Casino Resorts has inquired with town officials about the possibility of opening a 24-hour slots parlor at the mall with 1,200 slots in 100,000 square feet of space. The plan, as reported by the Globe, would require a 50,000 square foot addition to the mall in the area of Marshalls and the food court. It would put the slots parlor almost right out the back door of the Danvers Police Department. A spokesman for Simon Property Group, which owns the mall, told the Globe he had not heard anything about the proposal for a slots parlor at the mall. The state …

Mall Possible Site for Slots Parlor by Baltimore Developer

One of the three applicants for a slot parlor in the state is looking at Liberty Tree Mall, several town officials have told the Boston Globe.

One of the last-minute submissions for a slots parlor in the state before last week's application deadline could be looking to build it at Liberty Tree Mall, the Boston Globe reported on Monday. The plan calls for 1,200 slots in a 50,000-square-foot complex that would be open 24 hours a day, according to the Globe's coverage. PPE Casino Resorts is one of three applicants for the state's lone slot parlor license and the last - and least known - of the three applicants. The other two applications are for locations on the South Coast. While the three locations for resort casinos are constrained by the three regions set out in the 2011 casino legislation, the one slots parlor can be located anywhere, Steve Crosby, chairman of the state Gaming …

I for one would go spend a couple of quarters in a slot parlor, however not one located at the liberty tree mall. There are plenty of other places to build one of those and if you really want to bring money into Danvers, then build it up by The Comfort in or someplace on Route 1. Not in a quiet residential neighborhood. That's only going to wreck havoc. I hear the phrase, there goes the …   more ›
