Beer and Wine Now on Sale at Trader Joe's on Rt. 114

The Route 114 store now stocks specialty beers, wines and liquors -- most of them brand name products -- and at an affordable price.

Alcohol finally hit the shelves last week at Trader Joe's store on Route 114 in Peabody. Customers can now pick up some brand name specialty beers, wines and liquors, along with other local brands from microbreweries and wineries. Check out the latest Fearless Flyer for some of the current selections on sale.  Trader Joe's paid a local record amount ($205,000) to Frank Martino, who owns Martino's Liquors on Route 1, for the all-alcohol package store license. The company says alcohol sales are actually a regular part of its business -- most stores in California sell it -- but are just scaled back in Massachusetts because of strict license limits. Trader Joe's Recalls Frozen Chicken and Rice Meal

Trader Joe's has voluntarily recalled 240 cartons of a frozen chicken and rice meal due to possible listeria contamination.

Trader Joe's has voluntarily recalled a batch of one of its frozen chicken and rice meals from store shelves in 14 states, including Massachusetts, due to possible listeria contamination. This includes the nearby store in Peabody at 300 Andover St. (Route 114), just over the Danvers town line. There is also a store at 358 Broadway (Route 1 North) in Saugus. The grocer announced over the weekend it was alerted by its supplier that some Trader Joe's Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice meals may be affected. The products in question are: sku 99032 with a production date of "305 12" and come in 12.5-ounce packages. What Are Local Turkey Prices This Thanksgiving?

If you have not bought a Thanksgiving turkey yet, take a look at the local turkey prices as Thanksgiving approaches.

Turkey prices range from 59 cents to $2.99 per pound this week at the grocery stores in Danvers and nearby. Here's a sampling of turkey prices (per pound) at Hannaford, Market Basket, McKinnon's, Shaw's, Stop and Stop and Trader Joe's. In addition to the brands and prices listed in the chart, some other turkeys available include fresh Chef Master for $1.99 and fresh Plainville for $2.99 per pound at McKinnon's. At Shaw's, fresh Wild Harvest turkeys are $2.99 per pound or $2.49 with a card, fresh Jennie-O for $1.39 or 99 cents with a card and frozen Honeysuckle for $1.19 or 69 cents with a card. Missing Man Found at Kane's Flower World

The man who was missing on Friday morning from a Peabody grocery store has been located in Danvers.

The man who went missing in the Route 114 area on Friday morning has been located at Kane’s Flower World in Danvers. Danvers police said on its Facebook page at about 11:10 a.m. that he had been located. The 88-year-old man had been with his wife while shopping at Trader’s Joe in Peabody, just over the Danvers town line on Route 114 (Andover Street), when he went missing at about 10 a.m. Danvers and Peabody police searched the area for him. He was believed to be found uninjured.

Police from Danvers and Peabody are searching the Route 114 shopping district for an 88-year-old man who wandered off from Trader Joe's on Friday morning.

Danvers police are searching the Route 114 area on Friday morning for a man with dementia missing from a Peabody grocery store. Danvers police said on its Facebook and Twitter page that the man is 88-years-old. He is described as 5 foor-7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with white hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing a purple jacket and black pants. He went missing at about 10 a.m. He was with his wife, who was shopping at Trader Joe’s, just over the Danvers town line in Peabody on Route 114, when has wandered off. Police are checking along the road and area businesses. Anyone who see the man should call Danvers Police at 798-774-1213 or Peabody Police at 978-531-1212.
