UPDATED: SUV Driver That Snapped Utility Pole Allegedly Drunk

A car crash on Elliott Street early Friday morning snapped an utility pole.

The driver of a Mercedes sport utility vehicle that smashed through an utility pole early Friday morning on Elliott Street was allegedly drunk, according to State Police. Michael Enes Sr., 62, of 7 Elm Top Lane in Beverly, faces charges of driving under the influence of liquor, marked lanes violation and operating to endanger, according to State Trooper Nicole Morrell. Enes' sport utility vehicle rolled over and crashed on Elliott Street at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday. Video by WHDH-TV show the damage to the vehicle and crash aftermath, that left a pole snapped in half and dangling over the street. Thanks for details on this--Salem News had nothing about it. I saw the disabled car on 128, noted bits of glass and car parts on 62 east, then had to come to a stop as police responded to the rollover (SUV on its side, eastbound); I went to Beverly another way.   more ›
