Warm-up your Thanksgiving meal with flavors of the season in this delicious side dish.
I try to keep an eye out for interesting recipes, but even more so now as we look forward to the Thanksgiving holiday. Over the past few years I’ve tried bringing one "surprise" dish to the table. Sometimes this works out geat - other times, not so much. But this year I think I’ve found it, and all due to an impromptu experiment with roasting pears. Here is the benefit of said experiment, the piece de resistance: Roasted Butternut Squash and Pear Soup. If you've never tried your hand at a squash soup, but always wanted to make one, this is the recipe for you. Easy, tasty and satisfying are just the beginning of the story. I was having great success living the South Beach Diet lifestyle. (It’s a lifestyle, ahem, not a diet!); And I remember experiencing sadness and trepidation at the very idea of blowing my great progress on Thanksgiving. Once you make that commitment to eat healthy, and are starting to reap the benefits, it’s …

Check out this no-fail, slow cooked pulled pork recipe.

With back to school obligations happening all at once like back to school clothes shopping, school supply lists and the like, families understandably are stressed to the max. If they are blessed to have multiple children, the stress is magnified. And it doesn’t end with the beginning of school; just as classes are running full-time and we’re able to almost catch our collective breath, the notices begin coming in at a rapid rate: requests for picture money, athletic deposits, bus fees -- and don’t get me started on the fundraisers. The kicker is, no sooner are we caught up from the back-to-school frenzy, and we have to start thinking about Christmas and holiday shopping. I don’t know about a…
