Windchills to -18 Prompts Warning on 'Heightened Threat of Frostbite'

The windchill factor could drop as low as -18 degrees on Thursday night and it has prompted a wind chill advisory.

The wind chill factor could get as low as -18 on Thursday night, the National Weather Service warns. The temperature combined with wind gusts will be so dangerously low that the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that runs from 7 p.m. on Thursday through 10 a.m. on Friday. The advisory extends across most of eastern and central Massachusetts, including Danvers. An advisory is issued when wind chills are expected between -15 and -24 for at least 3 hours. The weather service said that there is a “heightened threat of frostbite or hypothermia” for anyone that will be outside on Thursday evening and early Friday morning. Coldest Air of the Winter, With Windchills to Zero, Moving In

The coldest air of the winter is moving in on Wednesday, but expected to move out by the weekend.

The coldest air of the winter to date - by far - is moving in on Wednesday. Windchills are expected to be close to zero on Wednesday morning and possibly below zero on Thursday morning, which will be the coldest day since last February. The National Weather Service said that Wednesday morning's low temperature would be about 10 degree and Thursday morning's low temperature will be about 7 degrees with a wind chill of -2 degrees.
