Deadline Approaching to Register Your Kid to Ride the Bus to School

School bus registration can be done via mail or in person Aug. 12-14.

The deadline is approaching to sign your child up to ride the bus for the new school year in Danvers.

The district provides transportation for any student in grades K-5 who lives at least one mile from the school he or she attends. Busing for grades 6-12 is for students who live at least two miles from school.

If you're not sure about your eligibility to ride based on your proximity to school, you can check the Danvers Public Schools' list online here.

The fee is $180 per student with a family cap of $540, payable by check. Cash and credit cards are not accepted. Families who qualify for reduced and free lunches under Title I have to fill out a separate form and submit it along with the regular bus registration form.

Students who live closer to their home school than the eligibility requirements for busing, i.e. within walking distance, will only be accommodated as seats are available. The district says email notification will be made the week before school if space is available.

The deadline to mail in your registration paperwork is Aug. 12. Send it to the Danvers Public Schools, Transportation Department, 64 Cabot Rd., Danvers MA 01923. Payment is due in full before your registration can be processed.

You can also stop in the office at Danvers High School in person to register on Aug. 12 (7:30 a.m. - noon), Aug. 13 (noon - 3 p.m.) or Aug. 14 (3-6 p.m.).

The district says middle school and high school students will receive their bus passes the first week of school in homeroom. Bus routes will be published online the week before school starts.

The first day of school is Sept. 4 this year.
