NSCC College2Career
Open Houses

If you are interested in completing a short-term, highly
supportive certificate program to qualify for well-paid, in-demand careers in
health care, financial services or advanced manufacturing, North Shore
Community College’s new innovative College2Career (C2C) program may be for you.
Open Houses are planned for potential participants who wish to learn more about
the program on Wednesday, July 17 from 5-7 pm in the
Lynn campus cafeteria, 300 Broad Street, and on Wednesday, July 24 from 5-7 pm,
at the Danvers Campus cafeteria, 1 Ferncroft Road.

The College2Career program offers
academic and job readiness support as well as placement assistance to
students enrolled in more than 15 credit and noncredit certificates at NSCC.
C2C, which is enrolling now for September classes, is targeted to
those who may be unemployed or underemployed or thinking of a career change.
The program operates in partnership with the local One-Stop Career Center to
help students navigate their career pathway with community-based employment
services.

Made possible through a grant from the US Department of
Labor, C2C promotes entry into the following careers: advanced manufacturing,
financial services, central sterile processing, dental assisting,
EKG/phlebotomy, electronic medical records, medical interpreting, nurse
assistant/home health aide, pharmacy technician, developmental
disabilities-direct support, mental health, gerontology, and substance abuse
counseling.

C2C will include a new health care course of study, Health
Care Technician, a 28-credit certificate program designed for those wishing to
obtain an entry level health care job, or those who already have one but wish
to enhance their knowledge and skills and obtain a credential.

Student success is paramount in C2C, thus the following
supports are built into the specialized program: a “C2C Navigator” co-located
at NSCC and local One-Stop Career Center who escorts students through the
college transition process, including financial aid, admissions and
registration processes, and connects their career development services; Achievement
Coaches who provide students individualized attention, career and academic
counseling throughout the program; tutoring; and assistance to eligible
individuals to access occupational and skills training courses, job search
assistance, and relationship building with professionals and employers in their
field.
