Danvers Police Charge Two With Home Burglary Spree

Two local men were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with multiple home burglaries in Danvers.

Two local men were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with multiple home burglaries in Danvers.

Matthew French, 27, of 11 Riverside Ave., Danvers, and Brian French, 28, of 1A Sutton St., Peabody, were both charged with three counts each of breaking and entering during the daytime for a felony, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of a burglary tool.

Brian French was additionally charged with resisting arrest. The pair was taken into custody shortly before 1 p.m.

Around that time, police responded to three different incidents -- a home break-in on Briarwood Drive, an attempted break-in on Putnam Lane and a break-in on Prince Street.

Initial scanner chatter from the scene indicated there may have been more break-ins, but that was unclear from a police press log entry.

Police said Thursday evening that further details would be forthcoming.

Officers did report recovering stolen property at a Riverside Avenue apartment at 1:30 p.m., according to a log entry.

Additional break-ins to several homes and vehicles around town have also been reported leading up to (and after) Thursday's arrests -- they may or may not be related.
